I keep hearing it said that the Bill of Rights was created for the government to defend. It's not. In the spirit of the consent of the governed, it's the terms of the contractual obligations owed to we the citizens in exchange for the privilege of governing us. The US Federal government has violated these contractual obligations time and again, and in increasingly grotesque manner.

This makes the Federal government illegitimate by the nature of the contract. What's worse is that they actually internally mediate the contract in a corrupt and self serving system. Until we start to see the Federal Government for what it is, an illegitimate entity that's violated the terms of our contract with reckless impunity, we will continue to suffer at our own hand through inaction and ignorance.
